Unisys Trusts Kyberpass and Its Best-of-Breed Components for
Identrus Enabled Solution for Financial Institutions
New combined solution on Microsoft Windows
2000 Datacenter Server to enable financial institutions and their
customers to conduct high-value Internet transactions securely and
economically
BLUE BELL, PA and OTTAWA, September
5, 2001 Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS), a
leading provider of full life cycle, integrated security solutions,
has selected Kyberpass Corporation, a leading provider of
e-security software for trusted e-business, to provide critical
components for Trusted Community Solution, the only packaged solution
of Identrus enabled architecture for the Microsoft Windows
2000 Datacenter Server. The new offering will enable financial institutions
to rapidly create a secure environment for high-value transactions
on the Windows 2000 server family at a fraction of the cost
of packages available today.
B2B sales will hit $8.53 trillion by 2005, according to leading
industry analysts. The new Trusted Community Solution will provide
organizations with the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) security
technology and professional services required to take full advantage
of B2B e-commerce.
The Trusted Community Solution was developed in an alliance among
Unisys, Microsoft, Baltimore Technologies and Identrus.
"After installing and testing Kyberpass on the Unisys ES7000
running Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, Unisys selected
the Kyberpass e-Transaction TrustPlatform to be an important component
of Trusted Community Solution," said Sunil Misra, managing
principal, Unisys Worldwide Enterprise Security Practice. "The
ease of installation and deployment of Kyberpass will help us to
implement an Identrus infrastructure for a financial institution
on the Windows 2000 platform in under 60 days."
This strategic agreement enables Unisys, with its leading presence
in the financial IT marketplace, to install the Kyberpass e-Transaction
TrustPlatform for the Identrus system as part of the turnkey Windows
2000 Trusted Community Solution, which was announced in May 2001.
"Microsoft's business strategy has always been to seek out
strong partnerships and offer our customers the best market solution
possible," said Bill Hartnett, general manager of commercial
industries at Microsoft. "The Trusted Community Solution is
the result of such a partnership with leaders in trusted digital
identity like Kyberpass."
"Kyberpass is committed to helping financial institutions rapidly
establish a trust infrastructure with greatly reduced capital costs,"
said Ron Walker, president and CEO of Kyberpass Corporation. "Our
Identrus compliant products for the Windows platform provide an
unmatched combination of great performance, ease of deployment and
unrivaled value. We are extremely pleased to be working with Unisys
to deliver these products to financial institutions around the world."
To create trust in a trading partner's identity, Identrus financial
institutions certify their corporate customers as trading partners
on the Internet. These trading partners use the Identrus system
to conclusively identify one another through their financial institutions,
ensure their communications are secure, and create an indisputable
record of their transactions. With these capabilities, they can
conduct Internet business with confidence, opening new markets around
the world and lowering transaction costs. The infrastructure is
open to financial institutions, their corporate customers, solution
providers and security vendors around the world.
"We are thrilled to see such a strong commitment to the Identrus
systems from both Unisys and Kyberpass," said Guy Tallent,
president and CEO of Identrus. "Their combined solution facilitates
our customers' ability to offer an integrated, cost-effective means
to bring more value to e-marketplaces."
