Legal - Digital Signatures for Contract Signing

Electronic versions of legal contracts make the contract management problem much less severe. However, when contracts move to an electronic format, the challenge of contract integrity and security becomes more challenging. The Kyberpass TrustPlatform works with many document management programs (Documentum, Open Text, Hummingbird, Prodiance) and provides a high-trust component for securing important legal agreements.

The Kyberpass TrustPlatform provides for several value-added features to contract management:

  • Data Integrity - contracts are encrypted and digitally signed before transmission and are tamper proof.
  • Version Assurance - a hash of each contract is generated during the signing process. Any, even minute, changes to an agreement will yield a different hash value.
  • Audit - as contracts are signed and sent, a permanent log of the transaction is recoded on the server.
  • User Signing Authority - before a user signs a contract his status is checked to be that user is authorized to sign the agreement.
  • Non-Repudiation - once the user is verified and signs the contract, the system logs the event and time stamps the transaction. Since only the user has their private signing key, the event can not be repudiated.
  • Signing History - many agreements require multiple signatures. Kyberpass provides a service on the Kyberpass TrustPlatform called the DSAR, digital signature authentication record. The DSAR Service records the signing history and the digital signature validations for every step of the signing process.

With the Kyberpass TrustPlatform electronic contracts can have the same legal status as hard copy paper-based ones.
